What is the skill level required to take part? I am looking for a course to send 'newbie' staff members on, so that they have the basics of SEO covered...in most cases they have zero experience and very little knowledge of SEO.
Sun, 25 Jul 2010 16:22:08 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/626991/next-seo-cape-town-short-course-seo-for-online-visibility-august-2010#comment2765391 /blog/entry/626991/next-seo-cape-town-short-course-seo-for-online-visibility-august-2010#comment2765391 Internet Marketing / SEO consulting services for Cape Town and Johannesburg SME's - Marketing
It’s so common now for published material to be solely intended to sell something or to advance the cause of the writer in one way or another. It was refreshing to read something that is actually intended to benefit the reader, as this article was. Great work!
Fri, 09 Jul 2010 12:01:32 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/190821/internet-marketing-seo-consulting-services-for-cape-town-and-johannesburg-smes#comment2687311 /blog/entry/190821/internet-marketing-seo-consulting-services-for-cape-town-and-johannesburg-smes#comment2687311 Offerforge South Africa database / email confidentiality not up to standard - Jonathan Miller
Dear Vernon. Thank you for your post, I appreciate that you were upset about the breach and again apologise unreservedly. To clarify just a few points regarding your post which I feel should be included, just to place the conversation in context

I would appreciate it if we could add the following verbatim:

-------
On the 12th of April one of our new staffers erroneously sent out an email
addressed to you using outlook rather than our emailing system within
OfferForge. It was well intentioned but bypassed our usual protocols of
emailing from within our network.

As a result of this error your email was visible to others who received the
mail. Unfortunately an unethical recipient decided to use the mail to reply all
and spam you.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused by this error on
our part.

We are pursuing legal action to ensure that the information is not further used.
Should you receive any emails I would be grateful if you'd forward these,
headers intact to me personally for further action.

To ensure this doesn't reoccur we've taken the appropriate steps internally
to retrain our team on the use of our systems and on our privacy and data
management policies.

We've further restricted user access to limit the information that can be
viewed and exported to ensure that your data remains secure. In addition
all user activity is recorded and regularly audited by our compliance officer.

Again, please accept my sincerest apology.

-------
From this mail, Vernon, I hope the take aways are:

1. We screwed up and inadvertently circulated your mail. In 10 years this has never happened before and most certainly can never happen again.

2. We communicated with all potentially affected individuals (not many) and told them when we discovered the fact.

3. We've taken legal action to protect your rights as we know the individual that sent the spam.

4. We've reviewed and further tightened our access controls to ensure that your data is and remains secure.

Vernon, we are really sorry to see you go as we've alwasy valued you as an affiliate publisher partner. Be assured that as an organization we've learned from this have responded proactively.

I am always available for comment or questions.
Tue, 11 May 2010 00:36:28 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/672221/offerforge-south-africa-database-email-confidentiality-not-up-to-standard-#comment2457401 /blog/entry/672221/offerforge-south-africa-database-email-confidentiality-not-up-to-standard-#comment2457401 Social Media guest presentation to CPUT Public Relations 3 students - Vernon Chalmers
Mandleni,

Thank you for your very kind feedback. The leverage of social media should at least be powerful enough for many of us to 'share our collective disappointed voice'

Regards,

Vernon Chalmers
Thu, 08 Apr 2010 15:06:21 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2289421 /blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2289421 Update - Standard Bank's response on my 'poor customer service' post - Max
Hi Vernon,
I am one of their most frustrated customers. I've raised several queries with them about bank statements - Mafikeng Branch. They just don't care. I am doing some research looking for the CEO's contacts. Thats how I landed on your page. Meanwhile I'm waiting for their usual excuses. Thanks I'm not alone
Max
Thu, 08 Apr 2010 04:48:02 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2286941 /blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2286941 Update - Standard Bank's response on my 'poor customer service' post - Lianne
HI Vernon
I have had countless run ins with Standard Bank espeically when i was overseas and trying to manage my account. Internet banking was a joke as was the whole FICA debacle... I had Fica'd myself 3 times but lo and behold they didnt have record of it, nor did home loans speak to current accounts etc etc...

I've changed my address twice, once at a branch and they still send statements to my old address.

I started this FB group when i was so pissed off - web link

I wonder if they have this on their social media radar? They contacted me too through twitter.

Hope you're well!

Lianne
Thu, 08 Apr 2010 02:46:41 -0500 http://www.vernonchalmers.com/blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2286721 /blog/entry/609331/update-standard-banks-response-on-my-poor-customer-service-post#comment2286721 SME Workshop: Preparing a website for online marketing and SEO - Vernon Chalmers
Thanks for your inquiry.
